The Oak Room Tiverton has a happy team! We're here to help answer all of your frequently asked questionsWhat facilities do you have? The main Oak Room seats around 80. This room also has a stage which lends itself to plays, bands, choirs or ceremonies such as weddings, funerals and naming ceremonies. There are toilet facilities behind the Oak Room and also in the basement cafe. Sorry there is currently no disabled access to the basement Cafe or garden for the disabled.

The Secret Garden Room (private hire only) in the basement seats around 60 and 40 at tables and opens out to a stunning garden that overlooks the old town and River Exe. the garden has space for around 40 seated.  There are kitchen facilities.


What disabled access do you have?

There are 4 steps up into the Oak Room from the street, at the moment we do not have a ramp for wheelchair access. Some of our classes and events are held in the basement which is accessed via a spiral staircase.


What facilities do you have for children and families?

There are 4 steps up into the Oak Room and the Secret Garden room and garden are in the basement so are not accessible by prams unless you can carry it down. There is ample pram parking in the Oak Room if you would like to carry babies downstairs and carry your pram downstairs. We have highchairs in the cafe and a toy and book box. We also have colouring sheets and crayons for them to use. The garden is currently only accessible to private bookings and not currently suitable for children.


Are dogs allowed in the Oak Room?

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.


How much is it to use The Oak Room?

How much is it to use the Secret Garden room and Garden?

How do I book?

How many people will the room take?

80 in the main Oak Room. The Secret Garden Room will take around 60 people standing or 40 people sitting, and there is seating for another 40 in the garden.

How do I pay?

To book the venue you will be required to pay a deposit of 20% in advance and the full payment must be made 7 days before your event. We can provide an invoice. You can either send a cheque or do a bank transfer. Details of how to pay will be given to you when you book or on your invoice. Payment secures your booking.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cancel 1 month ahead of your event you will be refunded your money. If you cancel 2-4 weeks before you will lose your deposit. If you cancel 1-2 weeks before you will lose 50% of your payment. If you cancel within 7 days you will have to pay in full (or at the discretion of the management).

Where do I collect the key?

The management will inform you of the collection point for the key or they will come and unlock for you. Keys must be returned to the agreed place and time at the end of your event.

Do I have to clean the room(s) after use?

You will be expected to clean the room of litter and debris, any crockery or cutlery used to be piled neatly . If the room(s) are left in a poor condition or any damage is caused then you will be sent the bill for the costs.

Are there any other costs?

Heating and lighting are included in your booking fee as well as normal cleaning. There will be additional costs for use of additional seating, use of crockery/glasses/cutlery, tables. If you want a member of staff that will be an additional charge.  Any damages will be charged to the person booking the room and any extra cleaning will also be chargeable.
